Barn Cottage

Barn Cottage, with its pretty walled garden, is next to the church of St. James the Great and opposite the medieval chantry tower.

Slapton is an historic village in the South Hams (evacuated in the last war, to the last cow, to allow training for the Normandy landings on the long beautiful beach). The sea and freshwater lake are a few minutes walk from Slapton. Dartmouth, to the north east, is 8 miles along the pretty coast road with sandy beaches.

The Garden

The famous yachting centre of Salcombe is 14 miles to the south west. The market town of Kingsbridge (with supermarket) is 7 miles.

Slapton has one general store and two pubs, the Tower Inn and the Queens Arms; both serve meals.

The South Hams is a beautiful area offering great walks, fishing, yachting, sea bathing and several National Trust gardens and properties.
